Fuel Cell Endurance Flight Project:
In early 2008, the Fuel Cell project was started by Solar Bubbles in cooperation with Adaptive Materials, Inc (AMI), a fuel cell company in Ann Arbor.
AMI came to Solar Bubbles with a new fuel cell, capable of running at extreme efficiencies on liquid and gas hydrocarbon propellants;
Solar Bubbles’s task was to design an airframe capable of carrying this fuel cell for a long endurance flight.
The final aircraft has been designed for robustness, endurance and simplicity.
With full fuel, this design will be able to fly continuously for very extended durations. Today's first long endurance test is for 10 hours with further endurance flights to follow.
We are flying at Milan field . Come see this historic flight in person!
LIVE video is being transmitted from the plane to the Aerospace building (FXB) atrium and displayed for the public
